Dr Andrea Scharnhorst is Head of Research and Innovation at Data Archiving and Networked Services (DANS), an institute of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) and of the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research. DANS offers several information services, among them NARCIS, a Research Information Portal about Dutch research; and EASY, a large digital archive for research data, primarily from the Social Sciences and Humanities.
Dr Scharnhorst has a background in Physics and in Philosophy of Science. Her current work can best be characterized as being part of the Information Sciences. She just has ended the coordination of a five-year programme on Computational Humanities at the eHumanities Group of KNAW, currently Chairs the European Cooperation in Science and Technology Action TD1210 KNOWeSCAPE, and has edited books and special issues on science studies and science dynamics. Together with the team of Christine Borgman, she is involved in a project on DANS users.
