New Global Glacier Browser

The World Glacier Monitoring Service (WGMS; WDS Regular Member) and the US National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC; host institute of WDS Regular Members NSIDC DAACand WDC-CU) have jointly launched a new web interface to access data compiled under the Global Terrestrial Network for Glaciers (GTN-G) on glacier distribution and changes.

The new 'Global Glacier Browser' provides users with a map-based overview on all available datasets. Moreover, a new 'Global Glacier Dataset Catalogue' provides standardized one-page descriptions of the datasets and links to the individual data access pages.

GTN-G is the framework for the internationally coordinated monitoring of glaciers in support of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. The network is run by WGMS, NSIDC, and the Global Land Ice Measurements from Space initiative, and all datasets compiled within GTN-G and are freely available for scientific and educational purposes (see GTN-G website for more details on access).
