Data Repositories Day 2018 (inc. WDS Members' Forum)
'Data Repositories Day 2018' will be hosted by the World Data System on Friday, 09 November 2018 at the University of Botswana in Gaborone; following the close of International Data Week 2018 (05–08 November). This event is open to anyone with an interest, and those from outside of the WDS family will be very much welcomed. Since this meeting incorporates the biennial WDS business meeting (the Members' Forum), Representatives of WDS Member Organizations—in particular, those of WDS Regular and Network Members—are expected to participate.
The Agenda for WDS Data Repositories Day may be found here: http://www.icsu-wds.org/files/data-repositories-day-draft-agenda.pdf. It consists of two parts:
- A Scientific Session, which will report on WDS-related activities of interest and importance to the data repository community. In particular, there will be a focus on CoreTrustSeal certification and the FAIR principles.
- A Plenary Session, which will provide a formal mechanism for community consultation on issues of relevance to data repositories. The main focus of this session will be a number of presentations and a discussion the successes of and the challenges faced by data initiatives in Africa.
