'Data Repositories Day' Held in Gaborone
On Friday, 9 November, the World Data System organized its first International Data Repositories Day at the University of Botswana, after the close of IDW 2018. This event was free and open to everyone with an interest, and attracted around 60 participants.
During the day, attendees learned the ways in which WDS can assist the repository community:
- How WDS can help you improve the practices and policies of your organization; for example, through the CoreTrustSeal certification scheme.
- How WDS can raise the local and international recognition of your organization.
- How WDS can help you to demonstrate to your community your commitment to Open Science.
The International Data Repositories Day also offered attendees an excellent opportunity to get to know WDS and its Members through presentations and discussions of wide interest, as well as time set aside for liaison and networking.
The agenda and the list of participants is available here. A dedicated webpage containing photos and presentation from International Data Repositories Day is in the WDS Members' Forum section of the website.
